| | Happy Thanksgiving! Thank you, everyone, who has bought series or single tickets for Guelph Musicfest and the upcoming ENCORE series. The Spring series was a huge success, and every concert was sold out.
But lots of tickets are still available for the Finale of this special 20th anniversary season!* Some of you have told me that you are away (and thanks, Carole, for sending me a photo from Brussels!) or have conflicts. But I hope more of you can show your support and help me end the season on a high note. Both concerts will be fantastic, and you will not be disappointed. These are the last Guelph Musicfest concerts until Spring 2027. The 21st season is confirmed, and I can’t wait to tell you about it. Mark your calendar for five Fridays beginning May 21, and also for an amazing special concert on Friday October 15, 2027. Ticket holders for Guelph Musicfest 2026 will get first choice of the best seats. * program notes are available on the web pages | | | |

| | This season & the KW Symphony’s next concert are dedicated to Diana Philbrick | |
| | The music community suffered a great loss when Diana Philbrick passed at the end of July 2025. She was the anonymous donor who helped Guelph Musicfest survive the pandemic years and, afterward, kept the music going when times were tough. She was also a generous supporter of the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony Orchestra and more. This 2026 20th anniversary season has been dedicated to Diana. The KW Symphony’s upcoming Baroque & Beyond concert at Harcourt Memorial United Church on Sunday October 18 at 2:30 pm is dedicated to Diana. I’ll be there and hope to see some of you, too. | | The program features four works, and the KW Symphony is spotlighting the piece that gives the concert its name: Jessie Montgomery's Shift, Change, Turn. Composers have been painting the seasons for centuries. Vivaldi gave us the most famous musical portrait of the year, with its storms, birdsong and frost. Tchaikovsky later turned the calendar into an intimate piano suite, The Seasons, with a piece for each month. In 2019, that suite inspired Montgomery's Shift, Change, Turn. Where Tchaikovsky and Vivaldi paint the world outside, Montgomery turns the seasons inward. The cycles of the earth become a mirror for the shifts in our private and public lives, sketched on a colourful orchestral landscape. Jessie Montgomery is a GRAMMY Award-winning composer, violinist, and educator whose work interweaves classical music with elements of vernacular music, improvisation, poetry, and social consciousness, establishing her as an acute interpreter of 21st-century American sound and experience. Named Performance Today’s 2025 Classical Woman of the Year, her profound works have been described as “turbulent, wildly colorful, and exploding with life” (The Washington Post), and are performed regularly by leading orchestras, ensembles, and soloists around the world.
Making her KW Symphony conducting debut, Léa Moisan-Perrier is Artistic Director of the Orchestre symphonique de l'Estuaire and Assistant Conductor at the Orchestre Métropolitain. Known for her vibrant stage presence, sensitive interpretations and original programming, she has worked across a broad repertoire from Mahler's Symphony No. 3 to Wagner's Tristan und Isolde.
