ROB'S UPDATE

With our Annual Regatta happening this weekend, it is time to finalise the last details of our major fundraiser for the year. It is crucial that we all work together to make this event a success and raise as much as possible.

Most positions are now filled, and I thank you for that but we still welcome more tinnie drivers holding a boat licence, or anyone available for sentry duties.

Let me also emphasise that you do not need to be a competitive rower to help out.  I call on any member of the club to help as the monies raised go to purchasing up-to-date facilities and equipment for every member's benefit.

Thank you to those members who have organised race sponsors to-date. There is still time and to make things easier, the sponsorship form can be downloaded from our website under the Sponsorship tab and also here.

Also, any last minute donations of items for raffle prizes. These may be left upstairs for our raffle organiser Jane Goddard.

Thanks — Robert Campbell, President

AUSTRALIA DAY

We had a very successful Australia Day Event which commenced with the No. 5 Time Trail, followed by an Aussie breakfast then a hotly contested on-water skills test organised by Jeanette Beeton and Jane Goddard. The skill test involved rowing and picking up small sections of noodles. Not as easy as you think. Our star female and male noodlers were Katie with 9 noodles and Mohamed with 23 noodles, respectively. The overall winning Noodler being, Mohamed. Well done!

Also winning recognition, for the best dressed crew and boat was the quad with Joy, Kim, Katrina and Kate. They outshone everyone else and took home well received rowing bag prizes.

TIME TRIALS — No. 5 and No. 6

Our last two time trails were held on 26th January as part of our Australia Day Event and on the 16th February. The Australia Day Time trial was greeted with calm water,  was well attended with 16 boats and a strong support team.  Thank you to the starters, time keepers and safety crews.

Thanks again to Mohamed who has collated the latest results to-date and provided a graphed summary. Also, thanks to both Jane and Nick for their well captured photos of the recent time trails. Please note, the photos from these events will be available in the Gallery section of our website at a later date.

Nick in a different type of boat and on Time Trial and photography duty along with Helen Forbes, our trainee BRO. We are very grateful to Helen who has volunteered to assist us in this capacity, especially since she is not a rower. Good conditions again for our 6th Time Trial of the season. A smaller group participating  but just as committed to delivering their best times.

REGATTA RESULTS

With our key February regattas upon us, it means we only have our January regattas to report on. The Taree Summer Regatta and the RNSW Small Boats Regatta.

Taree certainly delivered on its varied and challenging weather conditions along with a good vibe and a strong turnout from both local and Sydney rowing clubs. The Pasta night was a hit and an enjoyable way to socialise without worrying about water, oars and boats.

Simple, easy to follow instructions with screen shots can be found at https://cdn.revolutionise.com.au/site/pqds6t9yktifcprx.pdf, and they have also uploaded to the Lake Mac website under Club Forms, Policies and Procedures.
