|
| | | | |
Hi everyone, another month has passed by so quickly since our
annual general meeting. A few things have happened in terms of creating a new management
committee and I’m pleased to say we have good news for the Cabbi Secretary and Vice President positions but not the Treasurer position.
We urgently need a volunteer for the position of Cabbi treasurer.
We are much closer to having the full, very new management
committee for the next 12 months. I would like to warmly welcome both Tony
Bowen as our new Cabbi Secretary and Kenisha McAnally as our new Cabbi Vice
President. Our first monthly meeting last week saw this new team begin the
work of keeping Cabbi moving forward in terms of planning the year ahead.
Unfortunately I need to inform our members that the person who was interested in being our treasurer is not able to help Cabbi due to her ongoing work commitments. Therefore, we urgently need to find someone else who is willing to take on the position of Cabbi treasurer.
Carleta has kindly offered her help in continuing the
treasurer’s job for September and in the transition of the role of treasurer to
follow. I wish to thank Carleta for her many years of service to Cabbi and in
this time of handing over the positions and their duties to the incoming
people.
I fully understand how the next month will be a little
uncertain until all committee members are permanently in their positions and
begin to fit into their new roles. However, we have started dealing with
matters that need our attention now. Helping the convenors with the Christmas
exhibition and acquiring the new hooks and wires is our first need.
New exhibition Hooks & Wires Update: This is a high priority for the new committee to follow
through on. The reality is that Cabbi will need to fully fund this expense for
the benefit of future Cabbi Exhibitions.
I have gathered quotes and by the end of the month, the new committee
will be in a better position to purchase these items.
Workshops: We would
like to plan another Cabbi ‘Art in the Park’ morning towards the end of the
year. To continue with the promotion of social & art making events, I would
like to invite all Cabbi members and their friends to attend our morning out by
meeting at the north end of Caseys Beach for our second ‘Art in the Park’
event. Whether you are a drawer, painter or other, I would truly recommend that
you put this date in your social calendar. Please see the poster below for
further details.
42nd Art & Craft Exhibition: Now that we
have our new management team in place, the planning for the Cabbi Art & Craft
exhibition at Christmas time is well under way. The convenors are very busy
with the many issues that need to be organised. I would like to inform all
members that the entry forms will be emailed out to all financial members by
Monday, 26th October. The closing date for entries will be the
Monday, 23rd November. As per previous years, all entries can be
emailed to Workshops@cabbi.com.au or hand delivered to the Mogo
Gallery where a drop off box will be located.
More detailed information about the exhibition will be
available in the coming weeks.
Members in local Exhibitions: We
wish many of our members all the very best in their involvement in the many
local exhibitions in the coming months. The River of Art and the River of Art
Trail are some of the big events happening soon. We are very lucky to have the
most gifted and talented members who are involved in many exhibitions in our
community. Good luck to all those involved. Garry Kemp
