Another month closer to 2027: We hope you and your families are doing well as another month flies by. Since our last general meeting there have been positive developments for Cabbi management. I am pleased to report that we have now
filled both the treasurer and secretary positions for another year. I would
like to warmly welcome Tony Bowen as our new secretary and Christine
Ellis as our new Cabbi treasurer. I wish to thank both Tony and Christine for generously volunteering their time, and experience to CABBI. Their willingness to step forward and help during what was becoming a very serious situation for our creative arts group is truly appreciated. While we are still working through a few outstanding matters, we are now in a much stronger position to continue managing CABBI, planning for its future, and supporting the needs and interests of our members. Carleta Delac has kindly offered to help with the changeover
process for the treasurer’s job until the end of this month. Once again, I
can’t thank Carleta enough for her ongoing help in making this a successful transition and many thanks to her for all the support she has given to Cabbi in
the past.
I fully understand how the next month may be a little
uncertain until all committee members have settled into their positions and
begin to fit into their new roles. However, we have begun to address a few matters
that need attention now and we are addressing issues as they come up. | | | |

New exhibition Hooks & Wires Update:
At our management committee meeting last Tuesday, we agreed to move forward with the purchase of a new hanging system for our exhibition display boards. After an extensive investigation, we have ordered enough new hooks and wires from Eddy at ‘Framing Pieces’ to cover future requirements. We have known for some time this would be a necessary expense. Although the 500 or so hooks and 300 wires will cost $8,522, we believe that this is a wise, long-term investment. They are a great improvement on what we currently have and will reduce exhibition hanging time and hassles. The decision to purchase these items has, I believe, been carefully considered, taking into account both the impact on CABBI’s finances and the needs of our exhibitions. Like the management teams before us, we recognise that we are entrusted with the responsibility of managing CABBI’s financial resources wisely. Every expenditure and investment is carefully considered, with the best interests of our members and the future of CABBI always at the forefront of our decisions. Art in the Park Day: We
have planned another ‘Art in the Park’ morning on Friday, 30th
October, in just a couple of weeks’ time. I am a great believer that trying to create
special events like this for Cabbi members is not only a good idea but a necessary one. My thoughts are it’s not about the art we make on the day; it’s about the personal
connections we make with each other as members of a creative arts group, as well as with community members who walk by
and engage with us about who we are, what
are we doing and why. Showing Cabbi off to the public is a real positive
action.
You will see the flyer below, but just as
a quick reminder – we are gathering at the north end of Caseys beach, Friday 30th
October, starting from 8.30 onwards for a few hours. Bring your coffee, have a
few hours of fun with art materials and bring a friend too. We look forward to
seeing you there. 42nd Art & Craft Exhibition: Now that we have our new management
team in place, the planning for the Cabbi Art & Craft exhibition at
Christmas time is well under way. The convenors, Karen and Jane, are very busy
with the many issues that need to be organised. I would like to inform all
members that the entry forms will be emailed out to all financial members on
Monday, 26th October. The closing date for entries will be the
Monday, 23rd November. Parts of the entry form are designed
to be split and sent to three different people for processing. Please ensure
that you fill in the data with clearly printed information which is easily legible.
If you have any inquiries about the entry form, please contact me for help.
As in previous years, all entries
can be emailed to Workshops@cabbi.com.au or hand delivered to the Mogo gallery where a
drop off box will be located.
More detailed information about the exhibition will be
available in the coming weeks. Members in local Exhibitions: The last month has seen many of our
members involved in numerous exhibitions in our region. For example, the Pastel
Society exhibition, the River of Art and the Quantum exhibition are just some of the big events that Cabbi members have been successfully and heavily involved in (see below). Congratulations to all those involved. We
are very lucky to have as members the variety of gifted and talented members who are
involved in many exhibitions in our community.
Monthly Newsletter: Another
reminder that Sharon Beder is now our newsletter editor and she will be looking for
new content and ideas to be included in future newsletters so as to better inform
our members. Please consider having something to submit for this newsletter. Garry Kemp

| | Our next Artists’ Changeover will take place on Sunday, 6 December, from 1.00 pm to 1.30 pm. We’re also looking forward to our Twilight Event on Monday, 7 December, at 4.30 pm. We invite everyone to come along, join us and show their support for our featured artist, Camelle Denny, and our featured craft artisan, Kenisha McAnally, a talented leather crafter. We are delighted to welcome back potter Nellie Oldham and welcome our new artist, Cathy O’Hara Smith, to the Gallery. We also say farewell to our departing artists, Taylor Watt and Bindi Welsh, and thank them for being part of our Gallery. September Sales September was a slow month for the Gallery, with the following sales recorded: - 7 paintings
- 3 unframed paintings
- 122 craft items
- 31 raffle tickets
- 2 commissions
October sales have also been slow so far. However, with Christmas fast approaching, we’re hopeful that we’ll see an increase in visitors and sales as people begin their Christmas shopping. We encourage everyone to visit the Gallery, discover the wonderful work of our artists and artisans, and support our local creative community. Camelle and Christina

Exhibition update
Preparations for the 42nd exhibition are progressing well. This year, the Eurobodalla Mayor will open the show and announce the winner of the Mayor’s Award for Best in Show.
The judges for the exhibition have been confirmed: Sidney Speirs, a local artist who reached the semifinals of the ABC’s National Portrait Prize, will be mentored and will judge alongside Rose Marin, Executive Director of Southern Tablelands Arts, who brings extensive experience.
As a pilot initiative, we will include student artworks from Batemans Bay High School.
Flyers, posters, awards and other materials are being prepared and will soon be distributed. Banners and corflute boards are also in production, including a banner to be displayed outside Hanging Rock. The entry form is complete and ready for distribution.
Batemans Bay Surf Club members will assist with heavy lifting on our setup and pack-up days. The lights have been electrically tagged, and new hooks have been ordered. An exhibition organising meeting will be held on 20 October to identify the tasks required to deliver the event. We will then contact volunteers and assign roles.
We are getting very excited to deliver a great exhibition. Karen and Jane
